Frequently asked questions about the Weight to Go diet plan

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

About the diet

  • How much weight will I lose?
    • Average weight loss on the diet is about 1 stone a month, or 3lb a week, depending on your starting weight.
  • How does it work?
    • The Weight to Go diet is a meal replacement diet which means that you replace your normal food menu with a Weight to Go alternative. There is no weighing of ingredients or complicated recipes to follow, simply eat and enjoy losing weight. Clinical trials have shown that meal replacements offer a highly effective, predictable and safe approach to weight loss. In fact, more than 3 times as much weight is lost and maintained using meal replacements compared with traditional diets.
  • What can I drink?
    • We recommend you drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. We do not specify large quantities but advise that you drink when you are thirsty. Tea and coffee without milk or sugar, low calorie soft drinks and water are fine. Alcohol and juice drinks contain more calories than you think so are best avoided.
  • How old do you have to be to do this diet?
    • You must be 18 years of age.
  • How long will I have to stay on it for?
    • You can stay on the Weight to Go diet for as long as you need to lose weight. We have had customers with over 10 stones to lose who have successfully followed the Weight to Go plan for many months, and customers who just want to shed half a stone, follow the diet for just a couple of weeks.
  • Can you exercise if you are only eating 800-1000kcal a day?
    • Yes! You really can exercise with an energy intake of 800-1000kcal. 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise is advisable. If it is going to be a vigorous session or a longer session you could perhaps have an extra protein shake or energy bar.

About nutrition

  • Why is protein important?
    • We all need protein in our diet for growth and repair. Many people also find that protein has a satiating effect meaning it helps keep them fuller for longer. This can be useful when you’re on a diet as it can make it much easier to stick to. Weight to Go plans are carefully formulated to ensure you get enough protein each day. If you’re looking to boost your protein intake then you can add a tasty high protein shake from our range each day.
  • What about vitamins and my 5 a day?
    • All Actidiet products are fortified with vitamins and minerals which means that every product delivers around 25% of your daily requirement of key vitamins and minerals. On a Total plan therefore of 4 products per day, you will be having 100% of your daily needs. If you have chosen a plan where you swap fewer products per day, you need to supplement your daily diet with healthy meals including fruit, vegetables, beans and lentils. These are important in the diet as this is where we get a lot of our vitamins and minerals from as well as fibre. Fibre is really important in the diet as it not only helps keep your insides running smoothly it also helps you to feel full. Currently most of us don’t get enough fibre each day.
  • What if I have special dietary requirements?
    • Many people have foods they need or wish to avoid. All the ingredients in our products can be found here. You’ll also find this information on the individual product packaging.
